Monday, July 21, 2025 — The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Sergeant Bobby Garcia has successfully completed the highly demanding Driver Instructor Training Program (DITP) at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC).

Sergeant Garcia graduated from the two-week course on Friday, July 18. The DITP certifies law enforcement professionals to teach both basic and emergency vehicle operation to fellow peace officers. Known for its rigorous standards and low pass rate, the program is reserved for highly qualified candidates across the state.

A member of the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office since 2012, Garcia brings years of experience and a range of instructor certifications to the table. He now holds the distinction of being the first Gordon County officer to complete and graduate from this prestigious course.

“This is a significant achievement not only for Sergeant Garcia, but also for the Sheriff’s Office as a whole,” said a department spokesperson. “His success enhances our in-house training capabilities and reinforces our commitment to safety and excellence.”

In a group photo taken at graduation, Sergeant Garcia is pictured on the front row, second from the right, alongside his fellow classmates.

With this new certification, Sergeant Garcia will begin training deputies in critical driving skills that directly impact officer and public safety on Gordon County roads.
