At the monthly Sheriff’s Auxiliary Luncheon on Friday, August 29, Sheriff Mitch Ralston recognized four individuals for acts of outstanding service and bravery.
Bartow County Fire/Rescue Lieutenant Matthew Atkins was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for rescuing a trapped motorist at Cedar Creek on August 3.
Two Gordon County Sheriff’s Office employees, Deputy Owen Towe and Jailer A.R. Kinsey, each received the Meritorious Service Medal after providing lifesaving medical aid to an inmate who was choking on August 10.
Deputy Gavin Phillips was presented with the Commendation Medal for his role in multiple drug trafficking and weapons-related arrests.
“These individuals demonstrated courage, quick action, and commitment to protecting our community,” Sheriff Ralston said during the ceremony.
