GORDON COUNTY — Sheriff Mitch Ralston is warning residents to be vigilant against phone scams targeting individuals claiming to solicit funds for those affected by the loss of federal benefits.
“These scammers are trying to take advantage of people,” Sheriff Ralston said. “Never give personal or financial information to anyone you don’t personally know. Ever.”
Residents who want to help those in need are encouraged to donate directly to trusted local organizations, including the Voluntary Action Center, United Way, or local churches, ensuring that contributions go to the intended recipients.
Sheriff Ralston urges the community to stay alert and report any suspicious calls to local authorities.
