What began as a small group of supporters sharing meals during Mitch Ralston’s 2008 campaign for Gordon County Sheriff has grown into a vital organization that continues to support both the Sheriff’s Office and the broader community.

Following his election win, Sheriff Ralston officially established the Sheriff’s Auxiliary to provide ongoing support to his office, staff, and special initiatives throughout Gordon County.

One of the Auxiliary’s most beloved traditions is its monthly luncheon, held on the last Friday of each month at 12 noon (excluding November and December). Originally created as a networking opportunity for local law enforcement, the luncheons have grown significantly in popularity over the past 16 years.

Today, these gatherings welcome a diverse crowd including law enforcement officers, firefighters, court officials, county and city employees, federal agents, retired officers, community members, local media, and even former inmates. The luncheons offer a chance for fellowship, conversation, and community building over a shared meal.

In addition to the luncheons, the Auxiliary hosts an annual golf tournament fundraiser, which helps sustain these monthly events and provides financial support to various local causes. Beneficiaries have included organizations like the Winner’s Club, Boys & Girls Club, and the Voluntary Action Center.

Through food, fellowship, and fundraising, the Sheriff’s Auxiliary continues to be a powerful force for connection and support in Gordon County.
