Motorists traveling through Floyd County should expect daytime traffic impacts next week as the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) conducts maintenance work along U.S. 27.
According to GDOT, the right southbound lane and shoulder of U.S. 27 at 10th Street will be closed beginning Monday, July 20, weather permitting. The temporary closure is scheduled to remain in place through Thursday, July 23.
Work will take place each day from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. During those hours, drivers should anticipate slower traffic through the area and allow extra travel time if possible.
GDOT is reminding motorists to use caution while traveling through the work zone, reduce speed, and remain alert for construction crews and equipment working near the roadway.
The lane closure is part of routine maintenance, and normal traffic patterns are expected to resume after work concludes each day.
