The National Weather Service is advising residents across north and central Georgia to prepare for the possibility of strong to severe storms Wednesday night into Thursday as a cold front moves through the region.
Forecasters say several rounds of storms are expected to develop as the front sweeps across the state. While many storms may remain below severe levels, a few could intensify and produce damaging wind gusts.
According to the National Weather Service, the strongest storms could also bring hail up to 1 inch in diameter, and the possibility of a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.
The greatest risk for severe weather is expected in areas north of Interstate 85, where conditions may be more favorable for stronger storm development.
Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware, monitor forecasts, and have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight should conditions worsen.
