Gordon County was once again struck by a line of severe storms that moved through the region Sunday evening, leaving a path of downed trees, power lines, and debris in its wake. The storm hit around 7:00 p.m., causing widespread disruption, particularly along local roadways.

Deputy sheriffs and other first responders are actively addressing storm-related issues, including clearing trees and debris from affected roads. As of 8:15 p.m., there have been no reports of injuries or structural damage, but power outages have been widespread, adding to the challenges faced by local authorities.

County Public Works teams are collaborating with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) to ensure that roads are cleared and safe for travel. In the meantime, law enforcement has urged residents to stay off the roads and exercise caution due to the presence of fallen trees, downed power lines, and standing water in certain areas.

Sheriff Mitch Ralston expressed his gratitude to the many citizens who have already pitched in to assist with cleanup efforts, saying, “It’s truly inspiring to see the community come together during times like this. We appreciate everyone’s help and patience as we work to restore normalcy.”

Motorists are advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.
