Surprise Railroad Closures in Calhoun Catch Residents Off Guard

SHARE NOW

Many Calhoun residents were caught off guard this week as several railroad crossings throughout the city were abruptly closed for maintenance. No formal notice was given to city officials regarding the extent of the shutdowns, leaving drivers and local authorities scrambling for detours.

According to a railroad employee—who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to not being authorized to represent CSX—the repairs and maintenance had been scheduled at least four weeks ago. Despite this, no official notification appears to have been made to local leaders or the public.

WJTH has reached out to CSX for an official comment and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
