Georgia Primary Runoff, Law Enforcement Alerts, and Gordon County Budget Matters in Focus

Tuesday, July 15, 2025 — It’s Election Day across Georgia as voters head to the polls for the Democratic Party primary runoff for the Georgia Public Service Commission. Voters will decide between candidates Peter Hubbard and Keisha Waites, with the winner set to face Republican Fitz Johnson, who ran unopposed in his party’s primary. Results are expected shortly after polls close at 7:00 p.m.

Locally, Georgia Recreation Department is the only polling place open in the area today. Turnout is expected to remain low, following a June primary where less than 1% of voters participated.

Sheriff Warns of Scam Texts Using Official-Looking Logos

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about scam text messages impersonating law enforcement and court officials. These fraudulent messages often include official-looking logos and urgent language.

Sheriff Mitch Ralston emphasized: “If the Sheriff’s Office has official documents for you, they will be delivered in person by a uniformed deputy in a clearly marked patrol car.” He urges residents to delete, block, and report these messages as spam. “Do not engage with the sender,” he added.
