GORDON COUNTY, GA — July 18, 2025 — In a heartfelt ceremony held Friday, Detective Dylan Payne of the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office was recognized by the national organization “Quilts of Valor” for his military service with the United States Army.
Detective Payne, an Afghanistan War veteran, was presented with a handcrafted quilt as a token of gratitude and respect for his service. The “Quilts of Valor” Foundation is dedicated to honoring veterans from all branches of the armed forces by gifting them hand-sewn quilts as symbols of comfort and appreciation.
Currently assigned to the specialized investigations unit focusing on crimes against children, Detective Payne has served with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office since 2020. Known for his dedication to protecting the community, Payne’s recognition highlighted both his military and law enforcement contributions.
The presentation was made by Ms. Sonya Ririe of Quilts of Valor, with several fellow deputies, colleagues, and supporters in attendance.
