While most of the severe weather should be south of us for this round of storms it is still worth keeping an eye on and staying weather aware based on our recent and past history.
The active weather pattern over Georgia will continue today and tomorrow with another chance of strong to severe thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for southeastern Georgia today and for much of Georgia south of the I-85 corridor tomorrow. Damaging thunderstorm winds will be the main hazard with any storms this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main hazards tomorrow afternoon and evening, but a few brief tornadoes will also be possible.
A cold front will push a developing line of storms into northern Georgia late tomorrow morning. As it moves to the southeast, afternoon heating should help strong to severe storms to develop mainly south of the I-85 corridor. The line should move out of southern Georgia late Friday evening into early Saturday morning. Pleasant weather will move in behind the front for the weekend and early next week. As always, please stay tuned to updates from your local National Weather Service office and reliable media outlets.
