  • The Board of Commissioners will not hold a meeting on Tuesday, October 7, 2025; the next meeting is scheduled for October 21.

  • Two Gordon County residents were among 11 suspects arrested in a regional sting targeting online child predators, part of a four-day undercover operation called H.O.O.K. (“Hands Off Our Kids”). Corey Daniel Huff and Brandon Bolick face human trafficking-related charges, and authorities reported that suspects used social media and dating websites to lure minors.

  • The Georgia Department of Transportation announced a temporary closure of the right southbound lane and shoulder of I-75 between mileposts 287 and 286 on Wednesday, October 8, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for shoulder repairs. Drivers are advised to expect delays, reduce speed, and consider alternate routes.

  • The City of Calhoun has accepted the resignations of Fire Chief Lenny Nesbitt and Deputy Fire Chief Terry Mills following over seven weeks of paid administrative leave that began on August 15, 2025. City Council votes on the resignations were split, with Mayor Jimmy Palmer casting the deciding vote to accept Chief Nesbitt’s resignation.
