Barbara Sue Kirby Childers, age 77 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 at her residence.
Barbara was born on June 29, 1947 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Arnold Veston Kirby and Sally Viola Timms Kirby. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by: her husband Willard Childers; and two brothers, JB Kirby and Arnold Kirby. Barbara was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where she also taught a Sunday school class. She was a bookkeeper for GA Tufters for several years. Barbara enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by: her two sons, Adam (Sarah) Childers and Brian (Erin) Childers; daughter, Susan (Jose) Santizo; six grandchildren, Allie Childers, Taylor Secrest, Trevor Childers, Lexi Childers, Scarlett Santizo, and Liam Santizo; brother, Eddie Kirby; three sisters, Odessa (LC) Davis, Joyce Franklin, and Brenda (Dennis) Childers; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Kirby, Elizabeth Kirby, and Karen Kirby; and brother-in-law, Kenneth (Jane) Childers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2 PM at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Reverend Tim McCulley officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers serving include: Trevor Childers, Jose Santizo, Hugh Thomason, Stacey Hughey, Paul Tatham, and Skyler Mayo.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Ricardo Valle, Keith Franklin, Ricky Kirby, Eddie Kirby, and Liam Santizo.
