Cheryl Gorter Hornback
January 5, 1947 — June 6, 2025

Cheryl Gorter Hornback, 78, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Friday, June 6, 2025. She was born in Rochester, New York, on January 5, 1947, to the late Joe and Eve Gorter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Hornback, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Hornback, Sr; daughter, Deanna Hornback; brothers, Rick (Gay) Gorter, Tom (Venita) Gorter, Kevin (Shannon) Gorter; sister, Cathy (Rob) Williams; grandchildren, Jon Eric Benson III, Nick Kenneth Benson, Connor Hornback, Logan Hornback, Sydnie Hornback; great-grandchildren, J.B. Benson, Ellie Benson.

Cheryl loved fast pitch softball and was an excellent first baseman. She was on two different teams that went to the Worlds tournament. She was a 1965 graduate of Presentation Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, and a 1980 graduate of Kennesaw State Nursing School. She worked for many years as an RN at several different hospitals. She was of the Catholic faith.

To honor her wishes, her body was cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
