David Lawrence “Dave” Jenkins
August 4, 1934 – March 1, 2026

Mr. David Lawrence “Dave” Jenkins, age 91, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born August 04, 1934, in Atlanta, GA. to the late David and Ruby Morris Jenkins. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis Jenkins and Morris Jenkins; his sister, Lorene Moldovan; and his first wife, Carolyn Clinton Jenkins, to whom he was married for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Sharpe Jenkins of 42 years; son, Monty (Susan) Jenkins of Calhoun, GA; his daughters, Kathy Jenkins (Brad) Wheeler of Powder Springs, GA; Joy Jenkins (David) Hembree of Douglasville, GA; and Jan Jenkins of Ozona, FL. He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Dana Foll Squires of Nevada and Kelly Foll of Rome, GA; his stepsons, John (Jeanie) Foll of Alabama, and Wesley (Katherine) Foll of Phoenix, Arizona. Dave was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division for two years, a chapter of his life he held in great honor and often spoke of with pride.

Dave loved to make people laugh and always desired for Christ to shine through his life. He was a kind and thoughtful man who consistently put others before himself. He had a deep love for travel and adventure, visiting all 50 states and traveling internationally, always eager for the next journey and the memories it would bring. He cherished time outdoors—camping, fishing, and exploring nature whenever he had the opportunity.

At home, Dave enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing games, especially dominoes, checkers, and Rage, where he earned a reputation for being nearly unbeatable. He was also well known for his sweet tooth, with banana pudding and caramel cake topping his list of favorites.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 5, 2026, at Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton, Georgia, with Minister Ed Skoretz officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Trent Nelson, Jacob Hembree, Seth Wheeler, Zach Wheeler, David W. Jenkins, and David Hembree.

Dave will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of faith, laughter, kindness, and love for adventure will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

In Lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Dave’s name to the Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church for Local Evangelism.
