Sarah Frances “Bannie” Christian, 99, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was born on January 7, 1926, to the late Henry Hamilton West and Lula Estelle Mealor West. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister-in-law, Max C. West, Charles Autrell West, Billy H. West, Ralph E. West and his wife, Perrine; sister-in-law, Lois West; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby Bell and Mell Bennett; brothers-in-law, Bobby Gentry and C.L. Craig.
Frances was a great cook. She loved to sew, make quilts, and tend to her flowers. She was the oldest member of Salem Baptist Church.
Frances is survived by her brother, Henry J. West; sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia Sue Gentry, Patricia Ann and Charles Bradford, Martha Eloise Craig, sisters-in-law, Helen West, Tommie West, and Ruby West. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Hibberts officiating.
