    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Grady David Sanford, Sr., of Calhoun, passed away April 29, 2025.

He was born on December 27, 1939, in Gilmer County, GA. He served in the US Army and afterward worked in the rug and carpet industry for over 60 years, including working for Lacey Mills in Fairmount, GA, serving as its Vice President before starting his own carpet manufacturing business, Tri-Lake Tufters, in 1979. He also owned a chicken farm for over 20 years. In his spare time, he loved playing golf, spending time with his family, and spending time at his mountain cabin near Ellijay, GA.

He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 29, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grady Howard and Frankie Mae Dotson Sanford; brother, Eugene Sanford; sister, Rachel Sanford; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Mulkey Sanford.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine Evans Sanford; sons, Grady David Sanford, Jr. and Jeffrey Keith Sanford; daughter-in-law, Raina Mauldin Sanford; grandchildren, Stefanie Jackson, Brent Sanford (Leslie), Coby (Siarra) Sanford, and Elex Sanford; great-grandchildren, LJ Jackson, Andrew, Daniel, and Adam Sanford and Lucian Sanford; brothers, Danny (Tammy) Sanford and Wayne(Linda) Sanford; sister-in-law, Patsy (Earnest) Blaylock and Juanita Silvers, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
