James Michael Bentley
September 29, 1960 — November 17, 2025

Mr. James Michel "Mike" Bently, 65, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, formerly of Calhoun, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 17, 2025.

Mike was born in Calhoun, Georgia, on September 29, 1960, the son of the late James "Jimmy" Bentley and Sybil Marie Stewart Bentley. He was a member of the 1978 graduating class of Red Bud High School, a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from 1981 until 1985. He was an Emergency Medical Technician, later became a Paramedic for 30-plus years, and was employed by Hamilton Emergency Medical Services.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Bentley Schwanbeck, and her husband, Jeremy; a step-son, Michael Curbow, and his wife, Tiffany; two grandsons, Aiden, and Rylan Schwanbeck, two step-granddaughters, Zoie, and Alani Curbow; his sister, Marva Bentley Allen; ; nieces, Ashley Allen, Crystal Cantrell; step niece, Sydney Burgess along with cousins and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Heritage Baptist Church, 3:00 PM, 345 Curtis Parkway, Calhoun, Georgia 30701. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, two hours prior to the memorial service. The family asks that flowers be omitted.
