Mr. Michael Roy “Mike” or “Spanky” Mullins, age 65, of Sugar Valley, Georgia, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday afternoon, April 24, 2025.

Born April 1, 1960, in Dalton, Georgia, Mike was a son of the late Thomas Audley and Barbara Ruth Seritt Mullins. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steven Mullins; niece, Kimberly Mullins; and grandparents, Clyde Audley and Nora Dale Thomas Mullins, and Dewitt and Lola Lea Brumlow Seritt.

A lifelong resident of Sugar Valley, Mike was lovingly known as “Spanky” by his family, friends, and community. He was a proud graduate of Calhoun High School, Class of 1978, and served his country in the National Guard. Mike had a passion for history and was a longtime participant in the annual Battle of Resaca Civil War reenactment. A mechanic by trade, he worked over the years at Dixie Engine, the Georgia Department of Transportation, and Pilgrim’s Pride before retiring.

Mike loved nothing more than spending time outdoors — whether it was gardening, tinkering outside, or just soaking in the beauty of nature. But above all, his greatest joy came from his daughters and family, whom he adored beyond measure. He also treasured the simple pleasures of life, including many good times shared with his friends at the Sugar Valley Store, where he was part of the beloved “Front Porch Gang.” Mike’s laughter, easygoing spirit, and deep love for those around him will be dearly missed.

He was a faithful member of Hill City Baptist Church.

Mike is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Ashley and Steven Summers of Sugar Valley, GA, and Renae Mullins of Calhoun, GA; son Matthew Carver of Calhoun GA; his precious granddaughter, Angel Summers; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Matt Talley of Resaca, GA; sister-in-law, Kathy Roland Mullins of Sugar Valley, GA; nieces and nephews, Beth Wright, Stephanie and Derek Smith, Becky and Kevin Brown, Denise Stewart, and Shane Talley; aunts, Marie Cantrell of Calhoun, GA, and Amy Bramblett of Ellijay, GA; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of cherished friends.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Michael Roy "Mike" Mullins will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Hill City Baptist Church, with Reverend Barry Brock officiating. Mike will be laid to rest with his family in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Rutledge, Gary Pettie, Clay Brown, Shane Talley, Steven Summers, and Matt Talley. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Stefanowicz, Aaron Stefanowicz, Jeff Walraven, Dustin Talley, and Mike’s dear friends from the Sugar Valley Store "Front Porch Gang."

The family will receive friends at Hill City Baptist Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Sunday until the service hour.
