Ms. Morgan Brandy “Mo Mo” Phillips, age 33, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the local hospital.
Mo Mo was born July 29, 1991, in Dalton, Georgia. She was a 2009 graduate of Southeast High School and a proud graduate of Dalton Beauty College, where she pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a beautician. Mo Mo had a true passion for cosmetology—she loved fixing hair and makeup and bringing joy to others through her creativity and talent.
Mo Mo had a heart of gold and was known for her loving, kind, and caring nature. She lit up every room with her humor and energy, and she embraced life fully. A true “Daddy’s Girl,” and cherished the time she spent with her family. She adored her nieces and nephews and always made them feel special. Mo Mo was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Phillips; grandparents, Billy and Pauline Phillips, Marilyn Joyce, and Leon Welch; and her uncle, Terry Phillips.
She is survived by her loving parents, Shane and Johnny Welch of Calhoun, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Rendy Ellis and Nicholas Hobbs of Resaca, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Shelby Phillips of Calhoun, GA, Timmy and Joanna Welch of Oceanside, CA, and Christopher and Samantha Welch of Dalton, GA. Also surviving are her aunts and uncles, Lesia and Allen Ash of Chatsworth, GA, Kevin and Kate Joyce of Dalton, GA, and Donnie Lee of Tunnel Hill, GA; her beloved niece and nephews, Hayden Ellis, Brenton Hobbs, Jerry Lane Welch, and Hannah Grace Stanley; cousins, Kayla and Tyler Mitchell of Dalton, GA, Cash and Price Joyce of Dalton, Griffin Lee of Tunnel Hill, and Ryan Ash of Chatsworth, GA; along with several other cousins and many cherished friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Morgan Brandy “Mo Mo” Phillips will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Gary McPherson officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her family at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum with Ryan Ash, Nicholas Hobbs, Timmy Welch, Chris Welch, Jordan Merrick, and Johnny Welch honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the service hour.
