Patty Abernathy, 80 of Adairsville passed away on April 24th, 2025. She was born in Adairsville, Georgia April 10th, 1945, to the late Lawrence and Inez King Abernathy. She was a graduate of Adairsville High School in 1963. After graduation she worked primarily in the carpet industry until her retirement from Shaw Industries. She was a member of Stoner Chapel Baptist Church. She loved to read, play cards, and cook for her family and friends.
Proceeding her in death was her daughter, Michelle Lanham Strickland, niece Jill Abernathy McCrory, sister-in-law, Elaine (Bo) Abernathy, sister Wanell Dinning, Brother, Danny Abernathy, Brother in laws Jackie Dinning, Terry DeFoor, and husbands, Bradley Lanham, and Jim Babb.
Survivors include her daughter, Renee Lanham (Mike) Wills. Son in law, Carl Strickland. Grandchildren, Josh (Tiffany) Castleberry, Jordan (Megan) Castleberry, Reeves Whitener, Reagan Whitener (Dylan Rediger). Great- Grandchildren, Jennings Castleberry, Lucas, Liam, Landon Dover. Sisters, Judy (Jerry) Jones, Brenda Giordano. Special Sisters, Arlice DeFoor, Nancy (Fred) Budzius and Ann (Sean) McDermott. Special Cousin, Norman (Diann) Parker. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The family will receive visitors Saturday April 26th, 2025, from 12pm to 1pm at Barton Funeral Home in Adairsville. The service will immediately follow. Kenneth and Juanelle Stepp, and Myrtice Greenway will be providing music. Kenneth will conduct the funeral service, and Earl Abernathy will conduct the graveside service.
Graveside service will be held at Stoner Chapel Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest beside her mother and father as she wished.
Pallbearers will be Mike Wills, Josh and Jordan Castleberry, Jeremy and Justin Jones, and Matthew Giordano. Jerry Jones, Norman Parker, Howard Cochran, Fred Budzius, and Sean McDermott will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Stoner Chapel Baptist Church, Adairsville, Georgia.
