Paul Edward
August 19, 1953 – March 19, 2026

Paul Edward “Pops or Red” Johnson, 72, of Ranger, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones, on March 19, 2026. Born on August 19, 1953, Paul lived a life defined by love, hard work, and a deep devotion to family.

Paul shared 48 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Deborah Johnson. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, compassion, and generosity, even opening their hearts to foster children over the years two of which remain close, Dee Dee Paddock and Bill Teboe—an act that reflected Paul’s truly selfless spirit.

He was a proud and loving father to Michael (Lena) Johnson of Clover, South Carolina; Tim (Trista) Johnson of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and Christa (Donald) Correll of Calhoun, Georgia. Known affectionately as “Pops,” he was a cherished grandfather to 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, each of whom held a special place in his heart. His family was his greatest joy, and he loved them more than life itself.

Paul is also survived by his brothers, Ron (Vickie) Johnson of Placerville, CA. and Wes Johnson of Pullman, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Eugene Johnson and Evelyn Jane Blesing Cowels, and his sister, Pat Wilkins; niece, Susie Vanatti; nephews, Marcus White and Cory Vanatti.

A lifelong worker in the salvage business, Paul dedicated many years to Perks Auto Parts and Salvage. His passion for automobiles extended far beyond his work—he loved restoring cars, getting his hands dirty in the garage, and in his younger days, racing on dirt circle tracks and drag racing with his sons. He was also a devoted NASCAR fan who found great enjoyment in the thrill of the race.

Paul will be remembered as a man with a big heart, a steady presence, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family leave behind a legacy that will endure for generations.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 1:00 P.M., with visitation from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour.

Though he may be gone from this world, Paul’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
