Sarah Joyce McGowan, 91, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025. She was born in Heard County, Georgia on September 18, 1933, to the late C.B. and Lottie Daniel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. McGowan; brothers, James Daniel and Steve Daniel.
She is survived by her sons, Roger (Debra) McGowan, Timothy McGowan; brother, Danny Daniel; sisters, Francis Daniel Calhoun, Laverne Daniel Williams; grandchildren, Seth (Amanda) McGowan, Cassie (Michael) Hughes, Cara (Justin) Milmiester, Rhett (Fushae) McGowan, Connor McGowan; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Sarah retired from Calhoun First National Bank after 30 years of service. She was a faithful member of Belmont Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Rev. Scott Allen officiating. Pallbearers serving are Seth McGowan, Rhett McGowan, Scottie Fain, Justin Milmiester, Brett Cochran, and Marty Daniel.
