    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Steve Daniel Parris
August 20, 1964 — June 12, 2025

Steve Daniel Parris, 60, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was born on August 20, 1964, in Columbiana, Alabama, to the late Cecil and Lucille Parris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David Parris and Marvin Parris.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Parris; sons, Jordan (Emma) Steely, Cody Blankenship, Barry Blankenship; brothers, Cecil (Melonie) Dockery, James Dockery, William (Carol) Dockery, Bobby (Rita) Parris, Donald Parris; sisters, Sybil Dockery, Joyce (Kirt Mixon) Parris; Jo (Kevin) McCain; grandchildren, Cayden Blankenship, Josiah McNabb.

Steve served as the Director of Public Works for Gordon County, having worked with Gordon County for over 42 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved to shoot pool. He was a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly of Calhoun.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Denny Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Phillip Gilbert, Shane Hall, Ronnie Stanley, Shane Strickland, Johnathan Parker, and Rusty Hogan. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Bennet and Glenn Blalock.

The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Steve Daniel Parris.
