Wilma McDougle Davis, age 85, of Rome, and formerly of Calhoun, passed away Friday morning, July 4th, at her residence.
Wilma was born on April 4, 1940, in Gordon County, the daughter of the late Claude McDougle and Lois Erwin McDougle. Wilma loved to go shopping and was known as the Thrift Store Queen. The light in her life was her family, whom she loved and cherished. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Davis, and her sister, Caroline Cordle.
She is survived by three sons, Steve Dowdy and his wife Connie, Randy Dowdy, Jeff Dowdy and his wife Tina, two daughters, Pat Roberson and her husband William, and Kathy Snow. Fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday, July 7th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Tracy Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 12 to 2 PM.
