In observance of the Columbus Day federal holiday, all U.S. Post Office locations nationwide will be closed on Monday, October 13. There will be no regular mail delivery or retail services, though Priority Mail Express deliveries will continue as usual. Customers can still access postal services through more than 2,600 self-service kiosks across the country, which allow for postage printing, stamp purchases, package mailing, and tracking. Some locations now also feature smart lockers, rapid drop-off stations, and QR code label printing as part of USPS’s modernization efforts. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, October 14.
Downtown Calhoun is gearing up for a major weekend of celebration as the 2nd Annual Rocktober Fest takes over the historic district on Saturday, October 11. The all-day event will feature live music from local and regional bands, street food, seasonal drinks, and family-friendly fall fun. Downtown shops and restaurants will be open throughout the day, welcoming visitors to explore and enjoy. Vendor and sponsorship opportunities remain available through the Downtown Development Authority.
To accommodate the festivities, the City of Calhoun has announced multiple downtown road closures from 5 a.m. until midnight on Saturday. Streets affected include Wall Street/Highway 41 from Hicks to Line Street, Court Street to Park Avenue, and the one-way sections of Oothcalooga and Harlan streets. Park Avenue and Piedmont Street will remain open for parking and access. City officials remind drivers that vehicles left inside the closure zones may be towed, and barricades should not be moved for safety reasons.
