Calhoun Animal Control at Capacity, Free Adoptions Ongoing
City of Calhoun Animal Control has reached full capacity and is unable to accept additional animals at this time. Officials are encouraging the public to consider adopting, noting that all adoptions are currently FREE. Those interested can view available animals through the shelter’s two pinned posts on its profile. Community support is appreciated as staff work to make space and find loving homes.

Georgia DPS Releases New Year’s Holiday Travel Report
The Georgia Department of Public Safety has released its New Year’s holiday travel period activity report, highlighting statewide enforcement and crash data. During the period, law enforcement issued 125 DUI citations, 113 distracted driving violations, and 163 seatbelt citations. A total of 57 crashes were reported statewide, resulting in 20 injuries and two fatalities. Six crashes involved impaired drivers, and two involved commercial motor vehicles. DPS officials continue to urge motorists to drive sober, stay alert, and buckle up—especially during busy travel times.
