Traffic Stop Near Yellow Jacket Drive-In Leads to Arrest
The Calhoun Police Department released additional details this week regarding a traffic stop that temporarily shut down traffic near the Yellow Jacket Drive-In. Around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, authorities were alerted to be on the lookout for a silver 2011 Toyota Tacoma connected to child molestation charges. The vehicle was located about 10 minutes later, and a traffic stop was conducted at Highway 53 Spur and Crest Drive. The driver, identified as William McFarland, complied with officers and was taken into custody without incident. McFarland was later booked into the Whitfield County Jail on two counts of child molestation. Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted while officers secured the scene.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk Announces He Will Not Seek Re-Election
U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) announced this week that he will not seek a seventh term representing Georgia’s 11th Congressional District. VAC Food Pantry Requests February Donations
The VAC Food Pantry is asking for community support to help meet food needs throughout February. Current donation requests include bulk-sized canned vegetables, bulk-sized condiments, and black pepper. Donations can be dropped off at the VAC Food Pantry, located at 343 South Wall Street in Calhoun. Community members are encouraged to contribute to help ensure local families continue to receive nutritious food assistance.
