Crash on South Wall Street Turns Fatal
A Thursday afternoon collision on South Wall Street has claimed one life.
Calhoun Police Chief Tony Pyle confirmed that the driver of a Ford Escape, who was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center by LifeForce, later died from their injuries.
The crash occurred when a Kia Optima traveling west on Highway 53 attempted to turn right onto South Wall Street near Erwin Street. Authorities say the Ford Escape entered the intersection from Erwin Street without obeying a stop sign and crossed into the Kia’s path.
The Kia driver reported chest pains but was not transported. A passenger in the Ford Escape was taken by ambulance to Floyd Medical Center.
