HEALING HANDS CLINIC MOVING TO NEW FACILITY: Healing Hands Clinic will have their last clinic night on Thursday March 19 at their present location (440 Red Bud Rd). The Clinic will be moving to their new location at 203 Edmond Street, Calhoun on March 20th and 21st. Their goal is to be open and seeing patients at the new location on March 26th. This location is across the street from the OLD Hospital. If you are headed towards Rome, turn directly across the street from the Yellow Jacket Drive in, go thru the stop sign and it’s the second building on the right. (Pic)

•TODAY’S WEATHER: Showers and thunderstorms before noon, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 40 by 2 p.m. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Tonight, partly cloudy, with a low around 27. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

•Calhoun Fire responded to a fire alarm Sunday evening at the Singer building in downtown Calhoun. Crews arrived on scene, investigated and found nothing..apparently just an alarm malfunction. (Pic)

•18TH ANNUAL STRING BAND FESTIVAL, FIDDLERS’ CONVENTION TO BE HELD AT THE HAC MARCH 27-28: The 18th annual Georgia String Band Festival, which is the Official String Band Festival of Georgia, and The Gordon County Fiddlers’ Convention, which was established in 1924, returns to the Harris Arts Center Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, 2026.

The annual music festival began as a way to honor the local artists who pioneered American Country and popular music recording.

The weekend begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 27th, as The Harris Arts Center welcomes Bruce Molsky and Darol Anger to the Ratner Theater stage for the Kick-off Concert to the Georgia String Band Festival.

Admission for the Kick-off Concert is free. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Friday night, March 27th at the Harris Arts Center.

Then on Saturday, March 28th, the Gordon County Fiddlers’ Convention will take place beginning at 1 p.m. A competition established in 1924, it will feature traditional contests in singing, buck dancing, banjo, string band and fiddle. Admission to The Gordon County Fiddlers’ Convention is $10 for wristbands. Registration for those wanting to compete in the contest begins at 12 noon.
