Homestead Exemption Deadline Approaching
Homeowners are reminded that the deadline to apply for a Homestead Exemption in Gordon County is April 1, 2026.
Gordon County Chief Appraiser Ashley Bailey and Tax Commissioner Scott Clements are encouraging residents to apply now to take advantage of potential savings.
The State of Georgia offers several homestead exemptions, and Gordon County provides five local homestead options, including significant property tax savings for residents age 65, 70, and — new this year — 75.
If you already receive a basic homestead exemption but turned 65, 70, or 75 last year, officials recommend contacting the Tax Assessor’s Office for a “homestead checkup,” as you may qualify for additional savings.
Applications will be accepted through April 1, though residents may also apply during the appeal window, which typically opens in late May or early June after assessment notices are mailed.
