Gordon County 911 Telecommunicators Recognized
Four Gordon County 911 telecommunicators were honored Tuesday night during the Gordon County Board of Commissioners meeting for their quick response during a critical emergency earlier this month.
On Feb. 2, just before 7 p.m., dispatchers received a report of a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries on an active railroad track. From the initial call to stopping the train took approximately five minutes, with the entire call lasting just under seven minutes.
Recognized for their efforts were Cpl. Jalynn Wyatt, Sgt. Sami Jones, Telecommunications Officer Anna Evans, and Telecommunications Officer Kaitlyn Yancey. The team swiftly coordinated with multiple agencies to prevent further tragedy.
Gordon County Board Approves Chicken House Expansion, Denies Rezone
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday, Feb. 17, to handle several items of business and conduct four public hearings.
The Board approved a Conditional Use Permit for a property on Hyde Road in Resaca, allowing the addition of four new chicken houses and updates to four existing houses.
However, commissioners voted 4-1 against a rezoning request on Folsom Road. The request sought to change property from Agricultural to Crossroads Commercial to add a driveway for a previously approved storage building operation.
Free Groceries Available Tuesday in Resaca
Emmaus Baptist Church of Resaca will host a free grocery giveaway on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is open to everyone, with no requirements to participate. The church is located at 4268 South Dixie Highway in Resaca.
