Highway 41 Closed After Chemical Spill Near Resaca
Highway 41 near Resaca was shut down for several hours yesterday after a commercial vehicle spilled a significant amount of an unknown chemical. Gordon County Sheriff’s Office and Gordon County Fire Rescue were on scene throughout the afternoon as GDOT and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division responded. The highway was closed from approximately noon until 5 p.m. Authorities say the driver involved left the area traveling north on I-75, and there has been no word on the company responsible. EPD crews mixed the substance with sand before shoveling it off the roadway and loading it into trucks for disposal.
