Gordon County Commissioners to Meet Tuesday
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday, February 3, at the Judicial Building Assembly Room, 101 South Piedmont Street. A work session is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by the regular session at 6 p.m.
County Reviews ULDC Changes Ahead of Data Center Interest
During its January 20 meeting, the Gordon County Board of Commissioners discussed potential updates to the county’s Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) in response to growing interest in data centers. Community Development Director Derron Brown outlined the pros, cons, and best practices associated with data centers—large facilities that house IT infrastructure such as servers, storage, and networking equipment. The discussion marked an early step in evaluating how current regulations may need to be adjusted.
Free Pet Adoptions at Calhoun Animal Control
Calhoun Animal Control is offering free adoptions through February 6 as the shelter reaches maximum capacity. Adoption fees are being waived to help animals find permanent homes and make space for incoming pets. The shelter encourages residents to visit and consider adopting a dog or cat in need.
