Public Safety Committee Meeting Scheduled
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners will hold its regularly scheduled Public Safety Committee meeting at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10. The meeting will take place in the Gordon County Administration Building Conference Room at 201 North Wall Street in Calhoun and is open to the public.
Dr. Sarah Layson Appointed to Calhoun City Schools Board
The Calhoun City Schools Board of Education has appointed Dr. Sarah Layson to fill the vacant Post 4 seat. A longtime Calhoun resident and advocate for public education, Layson brings experience in school governance, community leadership, and healthcare. She has previously served on School Governance Teams at both Calhoun Early Learning Academy and Calhoun Elementary School and is a graduate of Leadership Calhoun–Gordon County. Board Chair Becky Gilbert-George said Layson’s experience and dedication will be a valuable asset to the district.
Gordon County E-911 Invites Community to ‘Adopt a Dispatcher’
In recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in April, Gordon County E-911 is inviting community members to “adopt” a dispatcher by creating a gift basket filled with their favorite items. Telecommunicators serve as the first point of contact during emergencies, coordinating responses for law enforcement, fire, and medical services. Those interested should contact Lt.
