Labor Day Traffic Fatalities – Georgia State Patrol reported 15 traffic deaths statewide over Labor Day weekend, along with 284 crashes, 151 injuries, 425 DUI arrests, more than 700 distracted driving citations, and over 1,000 seatbelt violations. Officials say increased patrols were in place but continue urging drivers to stay alert and safe.

Dixon Indicted in Resaca Shooting/Arson – A Gordon County Grand Jury indicted Christopher Lee Dixon on multiple charges, including murder, assault, arson, and firearm offenses, after an alleged February 4 shooting and house fire in Resaca that left 80-year-old Ronald Bramblett dead. Dixon fled but was captured the next day after a standoff, and he remains jailed on a $2 million bond.

Long Indicted in Explosive Device Case – Dillon Wayne Long was indicted in Gordon County on charges including possession of a destructive device, aggravated assault, and reckless conduct after a January 2024 domestic assault and the discovery of an explosive device later linked to him. He was arrested during a traffic stop on January 18 and remains in custody, already on probation for a prior burglary conviction.
