Fire Crews Respond to Pair of Blazes in Fairmount; Critical Fire Danger Continues
FAIRMOUNT, GA – Gordon County Fire Rescue crews were kept busy over the weekend, responding to two separate structure fires in the Fairmount area as dangerously dry conditions continue to elevate fire risk across North Georgia.
Fairmount Fire Reports
The first call came on Friday, when firefighters were dispatched to a residential townhouse fire. Crews acted quickly to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby units.
On Saturday, crews returned to the area for a second, unrelated incident involving an outbuilding fire, which was also successfully brought under control.
Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in either incident.
Red Flag Warning in Effect
These fires come as the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Gordon County and much of North Georgia, in effect today from noon until 8 PM.
- Critical Conditions: Relative humidity is expected to fall below 30%, with wind gusts up to 25 mph
- Public Safety: Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged due to extremely dry vegetation and the high risk of rapidly spreading fires
