Calhoun Man Sentenced in Fatal Hit-and-Run
A Calhoun man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison, with the first 10 years to be served in confinement, for a 2023 hit-and-run crash in Fairmount that killed one motorcyclist and injured several others. Ronald Grady Dickson, 75, struck three motorcycles on Highway 61 and drove six miles before being stopped. Dickson pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle and serious injury by vehicle. He receives two months of jail credit for time already served.

Gordon County Sheriff Issues Scam Warning
The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam targeting families of recently arrested individuals. Scammers are posing as jail staff and requesting bail payments via Venmo or Zelle. Authorities stress that bail is never collected electronically. Anyone receiving suspicious calls should contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately.
