Gordon County Commissioners to Hold Public Works & Facilities Meeting Thursday

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners will meet for its regularly scheduled Public Works & Facilities Committee session on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the Gordon County Administration Building, located at 201 N. Wall Street, Calhoun.

The meeting is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend. The committee typically addresses issues involving local infrastructure, facilities, and ongoing or upcoming public works projects. Additional agenda items will be released as they become available.


Commissioners Deny Second Poultry Operation Request in Ranger

A second proposed poultry operation in Ranger has been denied following a public hearing Thursday evening. The request, regarding a site on Taylor Town Road, was rejected in a 3-2 vote by the Gordon County Board of Commissioners.

Commissioner Chad Steward made the motion to deny the application, with Commissioner Kevin Cunningham providing the second. Commissioners Steward, Cunningham, and Bud Owens voted in favor of denial. Commissioners Randy Abernathy and Kurt Sutherland voted against the motion.

This marks the second poultry operation proposal in the area rejected by the Board in recent days.
