Sheriff’s Staff Earn National Recognition, Jail Praised by Grand Jury
Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston announced that Lt. John Vick and Sgt. First Class Eric Bergen have completed the National Institute for Jail Operations Elite Academy in Midway, Utah — an advanced training program for select officers nationwide. The county jail also received high praise from the June 2025 Grand Jury, which commended staff for their professionalism, compassion, and state-of-the-art operations.

Community Rallies for Adairsville Teen Killed in Motorcycle Crash
A GoFundMe has been launched to assist with funeral expenses for 19-year-old Easton Martin of Adairsville, who died in a motorcycle accident on Lovers Lane last Sunday. A public “Last Ride” tribute will take place Saturday, Oct. 4, following his 2 p.m. funeral at Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Shannon, concluding at Eastview Cemetery in Adairsville. Donations can be made via GoFundMe or directly to Reynolds Funeral Home in Rome.
