The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking Johnny Lee Burk, who is wanted for aggravated assault with a firearm, cruelty to children, and additional offenses. Authorities report that Burk may be driving a silver Dodge Ram with a camper shell, bearing Georgia tag number PWK2138. Residents are urged not to approach him and to contact 911 immediately with any information regarding his whereabouts.

In other news, the Gordon County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that Mark Holt, 54, of Calhoun, passed away from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash on Harmony Church Road on Monday. The Coroner’s Office is assisting the Georgia State Patrol in the ongoing investigation and has extended condolences to Holt’s family.

Early voting continues this week from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the courthouse, with the final Saturday voting opportunity taking place this weekend ahead of the November 4th election. Voters will decide on two Public Service Commission seats and two contested city council races: in Fairmount, Joanna Hopper Brannon faces challenger Thomas York, while in Calhoun, incumbent Ray Denmon is being challenged by Bruce Potts. Voters will also consider three tax-related questions, including ESPLOST, FLOST, and a proposal to reconfigure school taxes for senior citizens.
