It’s Tuesday, November 4th, 2025 — Election Day across Gordon County.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and every vote counts. A reminder for Calhoun voters — ballots should be cast at Belmont Baptist Church, not at the Calhoun Recreation Center.
Today’s ballot includes municipal elections for Calhoun and Fairmount, as well as countywide referendums on the FLOST penny tax, the continuation of the ESPLOST tax, and a Homestead Exemption for both the Gordon County and Calhoun City school systems.
All registered voters in the county are eligible to participate. Voters will also see a statewide special election for the Public Service Commission, which oversees the state’s electric, gas, and telecommunications services.

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners meets this evening at the Judicial Building Assembly Room. A work session begins at 5 p.m., followed by the regular session at 6. Commissioners are expected to consider the 2026 meeting schedule, along with several departmental requests involving budget amendments, equipment purchases, and surplus declarations.

And in sports — excitement is building across the county as all three Gordon County high school football teams are heading to the GHSA State Playoffs.
The Calhoun Yellow Jackets will host Lumpkin County at Phil Reeve Stadium on Friday, November 14th. The Sonoraville Phoenix travel to face Burke County, while the Gordon Central Warriors hit the road to Monticello to take on the Jasper County Hurricanes.
Congratulations to all three hometown teams — Calhoun, Sonoraville, and Gordon Central — for earning their playoff spots. The community is proud of their hard work and determination this season.
