Local organizations are gearing up to host two events this week aimed at helping residents with career opportunities and healthcare decisions.
On Wednesday, September 10, Goodwill of North Georgia will hold its Fall Job Fair at the Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library from 2–4 p.m. The event will connect job seekers with employers across multiple industries, offering opportunities for part-time work, new careers, and everything in between. Attendees are encouraged to bring updated resumes and dress professionally, as some employers may offer on-the-spot interviews.
The following day, Thursday, September 11, the United Way of Gordon County will present an Impact Meeting titled “Health Insurance/Medicare Through Life’s Transitions.” The session, led by Sharon Hensley, known as the “North Georgia Medicare Girl,” will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Calhoun Depot, 109 South King Street.
The program will cover the basics of Medicare, enrollment guidance, coverage options, how to evaluate healthcare needs, and steps to change existing plans. Lunch will be provided, and attendees are asked to RSVP by calling 706-602-5548 or visiting www.gordoncountyunitedway.org.
Both events highlight ongoing efforts in Gordon County to support residents with essential resources—whether it’s navigating the job market or making informed healthcare decisions.
