Electric Bike Crash Sends Rider to Hospital
Calhoun Police responded Monday evening to an electric bike crash on Piedmont Street near Hillhouse Drive after a man struck a drain gate while traveling about 20 mph. The rider lost control and crashed, suffering a head injury but remaining conscious when officers arrived. He was transported to Atrium Health Floyd for further evaluation, and no condition update was available at press time.
Calhoun Animal Shelter at Full Capacity
Calhoun Animal Control announced its shelter has reached full capacity and cannot accept more animals. Residents who find a stray are asked to secure the animal and contact the shelter before bringing it in, while those needing to surrender pets are urged to be patient as staff manage the overcrowding.
