Election Day, Budget Approvals, and Property Tax Notices in Gordon County

Today marks a significant day for Georgia voters as primary elections are underway, including contests for two seats on the Georgia Public Service Commission — one of the state’s most influential regulatory bodies. Winners from today’s primary will advance to a runoff election if necessary, and ultimately to the general election in November.
In local government news, the Gordon County Board of Commissioners is set to adopt the county budget during tonight’s meeting. Meanwhile, Calhoun’s municipal government and city school board held their meetings on Monday evening. The Calhoun City Council approved its proposed budget, while the Calhoun City Schools are expected to finalize theirs at the next scheduled meeting.
Also happening today, Gordon County property owners will begin receiving their annual tax assessment notices in the mail. Property owners who wish to appeal their assessments have until August 1 to file.
