Other Northwest Georgia counties experienced similar trends. Floyd County posted a 3.4% unemployment rate in May—unchanged from a year ago and just above April’s 3.3%. Dalton saw a slight improvement, with unemployment falling to 3.3%, down from 3.4% in April and below last year’s 3.6% for the same month.

Regionally, Northwest Georgia’s unemployment rate rose to 3.3%, up from 2.9% in April, reflecting a broader slowdown in hiring across the area.
Despite the increases in many local counties, Georgia’s statewide unemployment rate improved, dipping from 3.6% in April to 3.5% in May.
