A Calhoun man was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Boone Ford Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol and the Gordon County Coroner’s Office.
The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. on July 3, 2025. Preliminary reports indicate that a red Mazda CX-5 was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Authorities say the vehicle veered off the right side of the road, striking a traffic sign and a driveway culvert before becoming airborne. The Mazda then struck a tree and overturned.
The driver, identified by the Gordon County Coroner’s Office as 42-year-old Preston Chad Bohannon of Calhoun, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Gordon County Coroner’s Office is cooperating with the Georgia State Patrol in the ongoing investigation and has stated that it will continue to support Mr. Bohannon’s family during this difficult time.
