Daylight Saving Time Ends Sunday: Remember to Set Clocks Back One Hour

SHARE NOW

Residents across Northwest Georgia and the Tennessee Valley are reminded to turn their clocks back one hour this weekend as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end.

Daylight Saving Time officially ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, November 1, when clocks will move back one hour to 1 a.m., giving residents an extra hour of sleep.

Before heading to bed Saturday night, October 31, residents are encouraged to set their clocks back one hour. While most smartphones, computers, and other electronic devices will update automatically, traditional clocks, watches, and some household appliances will need to be adjusted manually.

The time change also serves as an important reminder to check smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the home.

Fire safety officials encourage residents to test their smoke alarms and replace batteries when needed. Smoke alarms should be installed on every level of the home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.

Residents should also check the age of their smoke alarms, as most need to be replaced every 10 years.

With the return to Standard Time, sunrise and sunset will occur approximately one hour earlier, meaning residents will notice darker evenings beginning Sunday.

Daylight Saving Time will return on Sunday, March 14, 2027, when clocks will move forward one hour.

Remember, before going to bed Saturday night, fall back one hour and take a few minutes to make sure your home’s smoke alarms are working properly.
