Two Gordon County Fires Under Investigation as Suspected Arsons

ATLANTA, Ga. — State officials are investigating two separate structure fires in Gordon County that are being treated as suspected arsons, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced Tuesday.

The first fire occurred in the early morning hours of May 29, 2025, when Gordon County firefighters were called to a vacant home on Porch Loop Street in Calhoun around 4:30 a.m. Surveillance video shows two individuals entering the house and leaving shortly before flames consumed the property.

The second incident happened on July 21, 2025, at a residence on Red Bud Road in Calhoun. Video evidence from that case reportedly shows a masked suspect disabling the home’s security cameras just before the fire broke out. Firefighters responded at about 1:52 a.m., and the State Fire Marshal’s Office was brought in to assist with the investigation.

“We are thankful that no injuries or fatalities occurred in either of these cases,” Commissioner King said. “Now, we need the public’s help to identify those responsible. A reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the individuals involved. Callers may remain anonymous.”

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.

The Commissioner’s office is working in coordination with Gordon County Fire Rescue and the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office on both investigations.
