Georgia drivers are seeing only slight movement at the gas pump this week, as the state average for regular unleaded gasoline inched up by just one cent to $2.90 per gallon, according to the latest data released Monday.

The statewide average remains unchanged from this time last month and is 4 cents lower than this time last year. For most drivers, filling up a standard 15-gallon tank now costs around $43.50, nearly $1.00 less than in September 2024.

Across Georgia, prices vary by metro area. The most expensive regions this week include:

  • Savannah at $3.02 per gallon

  • Hinesville-Fort Stewart at $2.95

  • Macon at $2.93

Meanwhile, other parts of the state are seeing more moderate prices, with averages generally hovering below the statewide figure.

Nationally, gas prices are also experiencing minimal change, with the U.S. average up by one cent to $3.18 per gallon. However, the West Coast saw sharper increases due to a pipeline outage that affected supply in Oregon and Washington. In contrast, prices across the Plains and the South remain relatively low.

On the supply side, the Energy Information Administration reports that U.S. crude oil inventories dropped by 9.3 million barrels last week. With inventories now sitting about 5% below the five-year seasonal average, the price of West Texas Intermediate crude settled at $64.05 per barrel, down 47 cents.

In addition, electric vehicle charging prices held steady over the past week, with the national average for public charging stations remaining at 36 cents per kilowatt-hour.

As crude prices stabilize and travel demand begins to taper off following the summer season, analysts expect only slight fluctuations in gas prices in the weeks ahead.
